Can the finality of divorce bring liberation through song? For two popular artists, Adele and Kacy Musgraves, it seems to be true. They have channeled the harsh realities of divorce into a musical exorcism. While divorce albums may be tough to winner over critics, there is empathy from fans. However here instead of grieving a marriage these ladies choose to mourn the idea of it.
Adele has been quoted as saying her new album was recorded to help her child understand her divorce. Speaking to American Vogue, she felt her son was unhappy by her divorce and that she dismantled her “whole life in the pursuit of her own happiness”. She added though she felt it was important to for her son to see her “really loved”.
Kacy Musgraves said the Covid-10 pandemic was the beginning of the end of her marriage. The lockdown forced the two of them to reflect on their emotions.
Though both signers had seemingly amicable divorces, divorce is still divorce. They made lemonade out of lemons we can all enjoy.
